"Really?" Angel smiles a little, his eyes are puffy and his cheeks are wet, but thankfully there's no makeup disaster going on. "Guess we found each other at just the right time, huh."
Husk reaches up and cups Angel's cheek, wiping away some of the tears with his thumb. "Yeah, I think we did. Who knows what we were able to keep the other from getting into."
"If it weren't for you, I'd have ended up in some other bar getting high and fucking the pain away with randos who didn't give a shit about me," Angel says quietly, smiling a bit more. "And before you told me I wouldn't have figured you for emotionless. Not with how kind and gentle you've been with me."
"You bring it out of me, Angel. I don't know how, but I just knew I wanted to take care of you as much as you'd let me." Husk smiles, leaning over to kiss Angel gently.
Husk doesn't care. He just holds Angel close. When he breaks the kiss, he smiles. "Would you like to go wash off again? Or we could just climb into bed if you're tired." A pause. "And, uh, if you want to share a bed with me."
"Bed sounds good. And of course I wanna share with you, this is the safest I've felt in ages," Angel says. "Should probably drink some water, though. Kinda lightheaded...then again I've been clean for a week, might still have some withdrawal goin' on." The worst of it was three days ago when Val only left him alone because he was throwing up all night and Val can't stand puke.
"I'll get you some water." He carefully untangles himself from Angel, gets up and gets some water from the bathroom, bringing it back over. "Here. Let me know if you need more, ok?"
"Thanks." Angel takes several slow sips before looking up, sighing a little. "By the way, I like to cook in my spare time so lemme know your favorite foods. You've been so good to me, I wanna take care of you, too."
"Oh. I'll eat about anything. The one thing the chef here can't make to save his ass is a good pasta, though. Everything tastes canned for some reason." He makes a face. "But I'd love to have anything you made."
Angel actually grins for the first time in days. "Italian food happens to be my specialty, especially pasta. Let me guess, the chef also breaks the spaghetti in half?" He shakes his head. "Nonna always said, break the pasta, I break your face."
Oh, this man speaks perfect Italian? Fuck, this gets better and better. "She was. One of the only family members I got along with, but she loved everyone. Even my big bro when he was being a pain in the ass."
Husk climbs into the bed and holds his arms out for Angel. "There isn't much to tell about mine. Left when I was pretty young, and don't know where most of them got to."
Angel quickly changes into a soft pink and black nightshirt before getting into bed with Husk, nestling into his arms once more. "Not that close then, huh. Some might envy you, others might pity you. Me...eh, it is what it is, I guess."
"Me too." Angel nuzzles his neck, right now the memories of Val and the Vees and the abuse are so far away they might as well not exist. "I love you, Husk."
"Me too. After getting away from Val, meeting you's been the only good thing that's happened to me this whole week...or in a long time, really. I finally know what it's like to feel safe and happy."
"Well, get used to it." He can't help the grin on his face. "Because you're going to be safe and happy from her on. I take care of my people, even more so people I love."
"I know I will." Angel snuggles closer. "You're so different from them, they didn't treat any of their stable right. I just got hit with the worst of it."

He just grins. "You'll have to tell me about your family one day. I'm curious now."

He wraps his arms around Angel, holding him close. "I know I'm going to like getting used to this."
