Yu is cooking dinner in the kitchen. Everything is laid out on the counters and he's just starting. He's whistling as he chops up vegetables for a nice curry, in general having a good time as he prepares. This will shape up to a good meal, he's sure.

Yosuke is lazying about in the living room, not really thinking to help. Yu enjoys cooking, who is he to take away from that? Yeah, he's just kind of lazy, but if he was pushed he would help after all.

Besides, he's reading a book for school. Or rather, using it as his excuse. He's not actually reading it, just sort of holding it as he sits on the couch and listens to Yu putter around.

Perhaps half an hour after she was intending to, Naoto comes into the apartment, a slightly-grouchy look on her face which softens noticeably when she sees her boys.

"Sorry I am late, both of you. The meeting I was attending at the police station ran much longer than it was intended to."

She goes over to the couch and kisses Yosuke on the cheek. "It helps if you turn pages, Yosuke." Glancing over to the kitchen, she smirks. "Besides, I think Yu could possibly use our help after I change my clothes."

"I guess you're right," Yosuke says, putting his book down on the table. He has, at least, the good nature to look a bit ashamed of himself. "I just didn't want to interrupt his fun."

"And you were being lazy. Your book was upside down as well." She laughs a bit, then disappears into the bedroom, returning in a Featherman t-shirt and some sweatpants. "Alright, dinner next."

"Upside down reading is extremely valid," Yosuke jokes, then takes her hand and leads her to the kitchen. "Yu? Can we help?"

"I'll gladly accept the help," Yu says with a smile at them.

"What can we do?" Naoto walks over, standing on her tip toes and kissing him on the cheek. "I'll even make sure Yosuke does things right this time."

"Heey, I'm totally capable of cooking," Yosuke says, then pauses before becoming sheepish. "....I haven't made a Mystery Food X, anyway."

"And you won't, if I have anything to say about it." Certainly not now. Yu steps away from the vegetables and motions towards the cutting board. "Does someone want to take this part over?"

"I can do that." Naoto walks over and takes the knife from him. "I at least know how to cut vegetables."

Yosuke is visibly relieved that Naoto takes over the cutting. Ever since they solved the mystery, he doesn't like touching knives anymore - it reminds him too much of them fighting for their lives in the end and everyone dying.

"What can I do?"

"You boil the rice," Yu says, steering Yosuke towards the stove. "While we finish preparing the vegetables and meat for cooking."

Naoto reaches over and puts a hand on Yosuke's cheek for a moment, giving him a sympathetic look before going back to the vegetables.

It isn't long before she's done and the veg is cut into precise pieces.

Yosuke smiles at Naoto and gets to working on his instructed task. He's grateful that they Get It, but that's what comes along with a relationship, right?

Yu finishes readying the meat and peers over Naoto's shoulder. "Good work," he compliments, kissing her cheek to go along with the compliment.

"Thank you." She grins, leaning over to kiss his cheek as well. "I think we're ready for the next steps."

"How's the rice, Yosuke?"

Yosuke checks it to see if it's all done and fluffy, and looks satisfied with the pot. "Done!"

"Okay," Yu says. "You get a good job kiss too," he says and kisses Yosuke's cheek too.

"It's time to brown the meat."

Naoto giggles at them, and thinks for a moment. "I will make some tea for us while you're finishing that."

She goes over to the cabinet and rummages through the tins. "Does anyone have a preference tonight?"

"No preference," Yosuke says, thinking before looking at the table. "Should I set that, or is it too soon?"

"It wouldn't hurt," Yu says. "And you can pick the tea, Naoto."

"Alright." She pulls a tin of Jasmine tea out of the cabinet, then reaches around Yu to put the kettle on the stove, and lean against one of the counters to watch her boys with a smile on her face.

Yes. This is good.

Yosuke starts setting the table as he said he would, shooting a smile back at Naoto. "Happy?" he asks, already knowing the answer and feeling fuzzy because of it.

Yu notes their smiles and smiles as well as he finishes cooking the meat and goes for the vegetables. It's a very happy room right now!

"Certainly. There is little more I could wish for currently. I am so lucky to have both of you."

She blushes a bit, then takes the now-whistling tea kettle, and pours it into the pot with the tea leaves, letting it steep for a while.

"Or we're so lucky to have you." Yosuke finishes setting the table and moves to her side, kissing her blushed cheek.
