today set a standard for bad
By now Angel's used to it. The abuse, the demands, the sixteen-plus-hour shoots with no breaks unless Val himself needs one or he's feeling generous and decides Angel should drink some water so he doesn't pass out and ruin the shoot. Val helping himself to him afterwards, snide comments from Velvette, Vox rubbing salt in the wounds by being himself.
He hates it, hates everything about it, hates himself for being dumb enough to fall for Val in the first place, but he's used to it.
Today, though...Val was in a mood. A trafficking scenario with lots of violence and a gang rape, knives and claws and teeth. No breaks, just Angel getting his holes stuffed with dicks and his body slashed and cut up until he was sure he'd pass out from the blood loss.
Val did the bare minimum of bandaging him and only so he didn't bleed all over "the nice clean floor" which you could run a fucking wet towel over and it'd be good as new. No ride home, either, so Angel was left to limp back to the hotel, trying to block out the pain. At least the randos trawling the streets tonight weren't interested in fucking a whore when he was down.
It's late when he gets back, and he's trying to hide himself in the shadows so no one sees him and makes a fuss.

This night, though, it's way past the time Angel usually comes home, and Husk is getting worried. Mostly he's staying up to make sure his... friend gets home alright.
When he hears the door open and sees Angel stumble in, he's beside him in a heartbeat. "Angel? What the fuck happened to you?"
no subject
"The usual. Bad day at the studio," he mutters as the sloppy bandages are peeling and he's still bleeding through his clothes. It's even dripping down his thighs, just visible beneath the hem of his skirt.
no subject
"We gotta get you upstairs and some bandages on you. What did that fucking asshole do to you?" And can Husk kill him? He might be mad enough to steal Vaggi's spear at the moment.
no subject
He hurts all over, his ass is sore from being plowed by dicks bigger than even his biggest dildos, he can barely stand. But if he can just take a shower and lie down it should go away.
no subject
A pause, and he holds out a hand. "Please, Angel. Let me help you. At the very least, you shouldn't be bleeding on the carpet."

As if Poison wasn't shitty enough, Val's upped the venom
This time Val had him gang-raped on camera, no blocking, everything showing. He did an entire sequence of stripping Angel naked and fucking him bent over a table while Vox watched and cheered him on and Velvette held up a bottle of Love Potion. Even sexier dances, more degrading and slutty clothes, even a blowjob scene with Val jizzing all over his face.
The tears Angel cried at the end this time were real.
At least this time Val let him wash up good before he went back to the hotel. The bloody gang rape shoot a couple weeks ago was a lot of physical pain, but this is worse. It can always get worse with a little verbal abuse and degradation.
But as he walks up the stairs to his room, he's reminded that no matter how bad it was, he has a safe space. Somewhere he can cry and vent and let it out and he'll be safe.
Someone is waiting for him.
no subject
Eventually, he cleans himself up, wraps his hand and goes upstairs to wait for Angel to get home. He's pacing around the room when Angel gets back, a combination of anger, fear, and worry on his face.
no subject
He's held back his tears the whole way home, sometimes Val has someone drop him off if he's feeling generous or possessive, but today he left before Val could even consider making the offer.
When Angel walks into his room and sees Husk, though, his composure begins to crumble.
no subject
"I've got you, Angel. What do you need from me tonight?" He doesn't even know where to start. His voice is concerned and worried, but gentle as usual. His anger has been put away at the sight of his Angel so very broken.

"Help me feel what's real"
Last night, he went out to entertain a client Val set up for him, and the last thing he remembers is going into the building. Everything else is a total blank, and he woke up dizzy and out of sorts. It's a miracle he could manage the shoot without Val smacking him for flubbing a line or something.
Just what happened? He hasn't done drugs in a while, did the client put something in his drink? Did the bastard fuck him so hard it reformatted his brain cells?
no subject
"What's wrong, Angel? Bad day?"
no subject
Normally seeing Husk would lift that fog, but while it doesn't make him feel worse his stomach's sinking and his heart's racing in a way he can't tell whether it's good or bad.
no subject
He's very concerned, but without information, there's not much he can do.

And then Vox drama bombed everything
Really, his relationship with Husk isn't just an escape from the shit he goes through at work but their attempt to escape the mess going on at the hotel. Finding out Pentious was redeemed sent Charlie into a tailspin trying to prove it, but all she ended up doing was playing right into Vox's hands. Lucifer tried to step in and made it worse, Charlie found out Vaggi told him to do it and, well, even happy couples have angry drama.
Then Angel went to the casino to sing and cheer Husk up, only to get a call from a client. Same building. Same light. And then Vox said the words that slammed into his mind like a truck.
That was why he didn't remember anything on those nights. Why his head felt so fuzzy.
Who sent Husk the video and all those horrible messages.
no subject
Angel singing at the casino makes his heart sing. His boyfriend is utterly beautiful and the confidence is amazing. This is definitely not a one-time thing he tells himself.
But then Angel goes off, some random client Val's set up for him. Husk reaches for another drink, but drags his hands down his face. He's trying to be better. Maybe he should just go home and get things ready for Angel. Yeah.
no subject
He doesn't need to, but he feeds Angel drugs, hoping they'll take and he'll go back to being Val's coked up dick-sucking ho.
The next day, the broadcast airs. Angel in his new dress, with a little accessory in his hair.
no subject
Husk rushes in and freezes. Angel. His Angel saying the entire thing is a joke. His claws dig into his hands for just a momment.
Vaggi glances over to him. "Husk, Angel wouldn't...."
And then Husk starts laughing, almost hysterically. "Well, that fucking explains everything."

In which Velvette got a sudden power boost
Now with Vox ruined and Valentino's future shaky after losing his highest earner and rumors of his other stars planning a mutiny (If Angel Dust can get free, maybe there's hope for us) and Val himself being a fucking mess, Velvette's the only one who can run the show.
Honestly, as surprised as she is, it sort of figures. She's pretty unhinged and bloodthirsty, but she saves it for the battlefield. And really, her little takedown of Carmilla was nothing compared to Vox's public meltdown and Val's temper. She has some semblance of chill compared to those two old men with old values.
And today she's supposed to meet with the cat. She still can't believe that mangy stray who ruined her hair was an Overlord, but here we are.

When Velvette arrives at the casino, she's met, possibly to her surprise, by Ethan, looking slightly more relaxed than he has in a while. "Hello, Ms. Velvette. Husk wants me to show you to his office, if you'll come with me please."

Their path goes around the tables, the stage, and to a back area with 'private' on the door. Walking through the door, he leads her to an office near the back and knocks on the door. "Ms. Velvette is here, Husk."
Husk's voice comes through the door. "Then let her in, Ethan, sheesh."
Ethan looks a bit sheepish. "Just wanted to make sure you were alone."
"That was one time, Ethan. Get over it. I'm sure you've seen worse."
Ethan just shakes his head. "Go on in. Husk'll call me to let you out if you're worried about getting lost."

Homecoming
Nuggs gets right back into the swing of things, waddle-running towards the bar where there's a fresh bowl of nuts set out.
"Easy, boy! Husk let you get away with it, but this guy might not," Angel says, setting his bag down and picking up the pig. He's barely inside before Cherri runs and glomps him.
"Angie! It's been way too fuckin' long, welcome back!"
Re: Homecoming
"What the fuck is that fancy-ass shit on my bar?! You! Get the fuck out from behind the bar right now."
The poor sinner just stares. Why is there an overlord throwing him out of his job?
no subject
"Those aren't Fat Nuggets' favorite nuts! How dare you!"
no subject
"Like hell I am!" Husk pauses, looking sheepish. "Er, sorry about that, Kutter, was it? Vaggi's right. This was my bar for a long time, so I'm a bit possessive."
Kutter just... shrugs and shuffles off. He wasn't a very good bartender anyway.
