Eh, its alright. This crap's going around anyway. I'd probably get it at some point no matter what.
[He shrugs, but doesn't move at all, just standing there with Keith, ready to help.
Colleen comes over, and helps Keith up, and fusses them both out of the office, and into the care, piling them both in the back seat, driving them home with a running commentary of what's actually going on in the world.]
[Keith tries to sleep during the ride home, but spends more of that time coughing or sneezing. He's ready to collapse into bed by the time they're home.]
[Matt snuggles up beside Keith, coughing a bit, but not too badly.
It's not long before Colleen's bundling them out of the car, and into Matt's bed. Get comfortable, you two. I'll bring you water and some broth later.]
Yeah... [Keith leans against Matt a little, sniffling] It's nice, though. At the home, they'd just leave a nurse with you all day. [It was hardly an orphanage of fear, they treated the kids well, but they could be uptight and overcrowded, meaning kids like Keith got swept under the rug more often than not.]
[Colleen just blinks at Keith and shakes her head. Keith, do you ever have to go back there? Because... I dare say Sam and I could actually look into being foster parents for you. She brushes some of his hair back. Think about it, ok?
[Keith just blinks, wondering if what he just heard was a fever dream even though he's awake. But Matt's grin pretty much says otherwise.]
I...I could stay with you? Really? Forever? [Give him a moment, this is a lot for him to process. A real home, with people who actually want him, with his best friend.
He suddenly forgets to worry about being germy as he throws his arms around Matt, almost crying.]
[Matt hugs him tight, his grin almost breaking his face. He didn't know that his parents had been thinking about that, but he can't say that he minds.]
No one ever wanted to take me home at the orphanage. [His voice is scratchy and a little thick] Families always came in, a few of them looked at me, but they'd decide I was too much trouble and move on.
[This whole idea is a silver lining to the shitty storm cloud that was today.]
[Keith barely notices the change, he just feels warm and safe from not only being taken such good care of while he's sick, but knowing this could be his home.]
I only wish I didn't feel so lousy, or this'd be the best day ever.
Sorry. I still feel like it's kinda my fault, I've probably been germy for days and didn't notice till it caught up with me. [He tries to give Matt a little more of the blankets to warm him.]
Yeah. [Keith sniffles, leaning his head on Matt's shoulder] Misery loves company and all. And at least we'll get to miss the classes we hate for a few days.
[Screw history class forever.]
Sorry for being... gone yesterday. Brains hate life.
Yeah, maybe when we get back the people we like the least will be out sick. Feeling just as lousy as us! [They have the right to be bratty right now, they're sick and miserable.]
I guess once we've had some meds and some rest we'll be able to enjoy it a little more? [Keith smiles] I always did in the old days. Dad let me rest on the couch and he'd bring me soup while I watched cartoons.

I'd love it. I mean...living here.

[Matt's voice is a bit thick as well, and he sniffles, possibly from the sickness, possibly from emotion.]
Mom and Dad are stubborn. If you want it, they'll make it happen.

Good. Because... I want it too. I don't want you to have to go back somewhere that they don't appreciate you.

Damn. Guess Mom's right and I'm not as ok as I thought.

It's okay!
I wouldn't mind not having to put up with James for a few days. I should've sneezed all over him during class before I got kicked out.
[Sick Keith is even brattier than normal Keith]

[Matt smirks a bit. Keith is sometimes a very bratty influence on Matt.]
For now, we'll just hope there are enough germs around.

Meanwhile, we get to curl up with movies, video games, and cartoons. Lucky us.

Good place to end it, or a bit more fluff later on with them enjoying cartoons?
