[Keith smiles as they head towards the pet supplies aisle...then blushes as the next song comes over the loudspeaker.
You smile a lot, it makes me wonder what your thinking of cuz...baby you're always on my mind...
Keith's never been a fan of light n' fluffy pop music, be it boy bands or Mandy Moore, and this sounds like both in a blender. But somehow he can't find it in him to cringe.]
[Matt pauses in the aisle, blushing a bit as well, and glancing over at Keith. It's a song that feels like it's always on the radio, so he knows the words, and here at the moment, somehow it's... almost powerful.
Turning to Keith, he reaches out and takes his hand on instinct.]
[Oh...they've hugged plenty of times, and they sleep in the same bed, but something about holding hands is more...intimate.
He likes Matt's hands, though. Slender, but not weak, warm, nimble, well-kept nails. Silly to notice such a small detail, but he notices things like that about Matt.
His blush deepens as he moves closer, turning so that he's looking into Matt's eyes.]
[Matt looks at him as well, smiling a bit shyly. His thumb runs gently over the back of Keith's hand, caressing him slightly.
It's almost as if there's something... tangible in the air between them, something anticipating this moment. Matt's not sure what to do with it, but he doesn't want to break the moment.]
[Neither does Keith. He knows the feeling of being smitten with someone, Shiro's had that effect on him enough times. But even the most heart-racing moment Shiro's given him seems to pale in comparison to right now. A simple brush of Matt's thumb, his smile, the look in his eyes, every word of the song seeping into him.
[They're taking up half of the aisle, but Matt doesn't seem to care at the moment. He's way too caught up in his best friend to care.
Carefully, he reaches up and brushes some of Keith's hair out of his face, his expression softening. Slowly, he's beginning to realize what it is he's feeling, but he has no idea what to do with it.]
[He's seen Shiro and Adam look at each other this way, just before they-
Kiss.
His heart skips a beat. Kiss him, kissing Matt, his best friend, the person he-
Uh, excuse me, you guys gonna move anytime soon? asks a stranger, and Keith snaps out of his trance. He looks embarrassed and has to bite his tongue so he doesn't snap; he's tried hard to control his temper over the last year.]
Right! Can't let the frozen stuff melt, after all. [He murmurs an apology to the stranger, grabs a rawhide bone and sticks it in the cart.] Well, let's get going, then.
Yeah, this won't be a moment Keith will forget anytime soon either. Something happened, something was definitely sparked and even if it's kinda scary it felt good.]

[Matt disappears, returning a bit later with eggs and some ice cream]

Is that it?

[Matt hands the list over to Keith.]
Check my work, make sure I didn't miss anything.

Looks like we got everything!

[He glances around the aisle they're in, wondering if the niggling feeling he's having that they missed something is right or not.]

[He remembers Sam mentioning the bag of dry food being more than half-empty.]

[Matt grins, turning to go to the dog food aisle.]
Good thought, actually. I don't think even Mom thought about that.

[For a kid who never owned a dog, Keith knows a lot about them.]

[Matt grins, nudging him with his shoulder.]
You're getting really good at this.

Er, yeah. We should probably move. Um.
