[The math test isn't for two more days, and Keith gets by well enough in that class. But after the last A he brought home and how proud Sam and Colleen were, he desperately wants to get another. Getting such a high mark felt good, made him feel smart for once, even the hard-to-please teacher was proud of him.
He's not overly fond of the material, and it's harder than the last unit, but he's determined to understand it. Even if it means still sitting up at the kitchen table, half-asleep as he stares at the same page over and over.]
[Matt's been working on things for a while, mostly biochem, losing himself in the information.
He glances up at one point, and is pretty sure that he sees Keith almost nod off. Glancing at the clock, he winces, realizing how late it is. Standing up, he goes over and puts a hand on Keith's shoulder, concern on his face.]
[Stifling a yawn, Keith lifts his head and blinks, rubbing his eyes. The page was starting to look blurry, and he hasn't looked at the clock in...half an hour? Maybe longer.]
Oh...just a few more minutes. Just gotta get the rest of this down.
[He does just that, grateful for the support and the warmth. He hadn't realized until now just how tired he was, and bed is sounding more and more inviting.]
[Matt goes over to his dresser and pulls out some pajamas (blue with rockets and planets on them) and puts them on without a second thought. He's trying not to glance over to Keith, but he does a couple times, the blush on his cheeks darkening just a bit.]
[Keith doesn't notice Matt checking on him, though he himself does sneak a glance for a split second before turning away. He's not sure why his heart's racing, it's not like they've never changed in the same room before.
He finishes pulling on his red flannel pajama shirt, which is still a little big on him even after he's started gaining some much-needed weight (doctor's orders, after Colleen got worried about how skinny he was).]
[He's trying so hard not to appreciate Keith's extra weight, which is at least somewhat additional muscle. He's Matt's best friend and brother. There's no reason why his heart should be doing a million leaps just seeing him shirtless. He'd never return the feelings.
Pulling on a t-shirt, (Galaxy Garrison Robotics Team) he turns back to Keith, and climbs onto his side of their bed.]
[Keith gladly gets into bed and nestles against Matt, his book forgotten as it sits on the desk. Absorbing math through his dreams is the last thing on his mind now, Matt's so warm and he can feel his nerves and tension fading away.]
[Matt wraps his arms around Keith, sighing a bit. He's always much more comfortable when Keith's next to him, and finally he yawns, voice sounding sleepy.]
[Without really thinking, Matt reaches up and runs his fingers through Keith's hair gently.]
You have something to work for now, a reason to learn things. It makes sense. You will, Keith. I have so much confidence in you. Just sleep, ok? I'll help you tomorrow.
[He's glad to be here, and he's getting used to the feeling of being told he's worth someone's effort. He's soon nodding off, his face soft and serene; Matt is so comfortable to fall asleep against.]
[Keith will wake up the next morning thinking he felt something in his sleep, but brush it off as a dream. He'll also wake up feeling warmer and cozier than ever, but only a little closer to realizing his own feelings.]

Hey. You should go get some sleep.

[Matt tightens his hand on Keith's arm, concerned.]
Really. I'm just as tired as you are. It'll be good for us both.

[He doesn't push Matt away, but he doesn't let go of the book.]
I'll take it to bed. Then maybe I'll dream about it and find the answers to the stuff I missed...

[He sighs, running a hand through his hair.]
Keith... just come to bed, ok? If you want to test osmosis with a book under your pillow, I'm not going to stop you.
[Mostly, he's realized that he doesn't sleep half as well without Keith there.]

'kay. Bed's more comfortable than a chair anyway.
[He keeps whatever hold he can on the book as he starts to stand up. He's stiff from sitting in that chair for so long, and it shows.]
no subject
I got'cha, Keith. We'll be fine. Lean on me if you're really that stiff and tired.
no subject
Thanks. [another yawn]

[He's gentle and worries as he helps Keith up the stairs and into their room, then onto the bed.]
Ok, so do you want to just... take your pants off and flop, or do you want some kind of sleep clothes?
[It seems that Matt's determined to get Keith ready for bed, too.]

[There's a small blush on Matt's face, but they're best friends, right? This sort of thing happens all the time.]
I... should probably change too. At least get out of my school pants.
no subject
No...no thanks, I got this.
[He finds a pair of his pajamas and begins to remove his uniform without a second thought.]

C'mere. I feel like snuggling.

Yeah...much better than a kitchen chair.
no subject
Yeah. much much better

It's still a weird feeling...like it, though.
[He yawns, his eyes closing fully.]
Wouldn't have it if it wasn't for you. Thanks, Matt.

Being smart suits you. And no need to thank me. You're worth it. I'm just glad you're here now.

Sleep well, Keith.
[Before long, he's asleep too, cuddling his best friend, slowly realizing how deeply in love he really is.]
